Sterial Machinery is a stainless steel vibro sifter manufacturer in Ahmedabad. All contact parts and screens on our vibro sifters are made of SS 316, a molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel chosen for its corrosion resistance and cleanability. This page explains why the material matters and where stainless construction is the right choice.

SS 316 vs SS 304 for Vibro Sifters
| Property | SS 304 | SS 316 |
|---|---|---|
| Composition | Chromium–nickel | Chromium–nickel with molybdenum |
| Resistance to chlorides (salt, some cleaning agents) | Moderate | Better – molybdenum improves pitting resistance |
| Typical use | General food and non-corrosive dry materials | Pharmaceutical, food with salt or acids, chemicals |
| Sterial standard for contact parts | – | Yes |
General material comparison; suitability for a specific chemical should be checked against its corrosion data.
Benefits of a Stainless Steel Vibro Sifter
- Resists corrosion from moisture, salts and many process chemicals.
- Smooth surfaces are easy to wash, inspect and dry.
- Does not shed rust or coatings into the product.
- Durable under continuous vibration and repeated dismantling.
- Accepted material for pharmaceutical and food contact applications.
Industries That Need Stainless Construction
Stainless steel is the normal choice in pharmaceutical, food, cosmetics and ayurvedic plants. It is also widely used in chemical processing, where the material being screened or the cleaning process could attack carbon steel.

Looking After Stainless Steel
Stainless steel stays corrosion-resistant as long as its passive surface layer is intact. Avoid steel-wool or carbon steel brushes, rinse off chloride-containing cleaners and dry parts after washing. See cleaning and maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are all parts of the machine SS 316?
All product contact parts and screens are SS 316. Confirm the material of non-contact parts and surface finish in your quotation.
Can I get an SS 304 vibro sifter at lower cost?
Our standard is SS 316 contact parts. If you have a specific material requirement, mention it in your inquiry.
Is stainless steel needed for chemical powders?
For most chemicals it is the safer choice because it resists corrosion and is easier to clean. Check the corrosion behaviour of your specific chemical.
